Job Description

Job Summary EO's Ignite Internships Program This student internship is being offered as a part of EO's Ignite Internships program and is for high school students only (seniors preferred) and the student must be 16 years of age or older. This internship is offered in partnership with the Birthplace of Country Music Museum (BCMM). This position is in person, located Bristol, VA, not remote. Students will be employed by BCMM and all hiring decisions will be made by BCMM personnel. BCMM has provided the following job description for this internship: Museum Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with our curatorial staff on a variety of projects and tasks related to the daily operation of a museum, including assisting with the development and installation/deinstallation of exhibits and interpretation of exhibit-related content, care and maintenance of the collections, working with and managing volunteers, and planning and implementation of educational programs and events for both schools and the general public. Interns will have the opportunity to focus their experience on the type of museum work (exhibits, programs, collections, volunteer management) that interests them most. Responsibilities Assist with development of a museum volunteer training video series Research and writing for exhibit-related educational materials; options include blog posts, social media posts, educational program components, and more. Condition reporting objects entering or leaving the museum's collection. Assist with basic care and maintenance of the collection and management of collection-related records. Assist with event planning and implementing public and educational programming. Assist with museum tours and other educational programs. Assist with after-school programs and other outreach activities Assist with the installation/deinstallation of special exhibits.
