This position provides musical, spiritual, and administrative leadership for worship services and related programs, ensuring that music and worship arts ministries support the mission of the church and enhance the worship experience for the congregation. Requirements Music Leadership Demonstrated competence in directing choirs and instrumental ensembles Worship Background Appreciation for traditional Christian worship within the Methodist tradition, along with openness to non-traditional and contemporary worship styles Interpersonal Skills Ability to build rapport, recruit volunteers, foster team spirit among participants, and interact with others in a loving, caring, serving, and welcoming manner Technical Knowledge Basic knowledge of church audio and video equipment Musical Proficiency Proficiency in organ and/or piano Education Degree in music or a related field preferred Experience Experience in church music ministry serving children, youth, and adults Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Director of Worship Arts will oversee the planning, coordination, and leadership of music and worship arts ministries at CBTS.

Responsibilities Worship Leadership Plan, direct, and play organ or piano for rehearsals, weekly worship services, and special services throughout the liturgical year, including Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, funerals, weddings, and other occasions as needed. Seasonal Programming Organize Christmas and Easter programs. Ensemble Direction Direct the Chancel Choir, bell choir, orchestra, and any other musical groups that support the music ministry of the church and perform with them when needed. Volunteer Recruitment and Development Recruit children, youth, and adults to participate in Worship Arts Ministry and encourage the congregation to experience the joy of serving through music. Support the musical growth and development of all volunteers involved in the program. Program Planning Establish annual goals for the music ministry and report those goals to the Church Council. Coordinate special programs and services with the Worship Team. Area Responsibilities Music Selection In consultation with the Pastor, select all vocal and instrumental music used in worship and provide music that complements the Pastor's theme for each service. Budget and Stewardship Consult with the Pastor, Council and Finance Chairs to prepare an annual budget request for the Trustee/Finance Committee and serve as a responsible steward of all funds allocated to the Worship Arts ministry. Equipment and Resources Work with the Trustees in the purchase and maintenance of church instruments and audio/video equipment. Maintain, utilize, and expand the current music library, and acquire new music and supplies within budget limits. Guest Musicians Hire outside soloists and musicians for special events, subject to budget limitations and approval by the Pastor. Administration and Communication Provide worship arts information to the church office & worship arts participants in a timely manner. Contribute to staff life and congregational communication through attendance at meetings and submission of articles for church communications. Coverage and Continuity Arrange for a substitute director when absence from rehearsals, worship services, or other responsibilities is necessary, and inform the Pastor accordingly. Additional Duties Perform other music-related duties as assigned by the Pastor.
