The parish school is a ministry of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community located seven blocks from the ocean. SMPREP animates its three central pillars - inquisitive in scholarship, courageous in action, and anchored in solidarity - in the context of a loving, faithful community with an unwavering dedication to forming the whole student. Saint Monica Preparatory is seeking a lower school music teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. SMPREP is dedicated to the academic, spiritual, and emotional development and growth of each student.
Requirements The successful applicant will:
Foster a joyful, engaging music classroom where students develop musical skills, creativity, confidence, and an appreciation for music Demonstrate an understanding of music fundamentals, including reading music Lead group music instruction across multiple grade levels Effectively manage a classroom and lead students as a classroom teacher Develop and implement a standards-aligned music curriculum with grade-level learning targets and assessments Assist with planning and leading school liturgies, prayer services, and musical performances Collaborate with faculty to support school-wide events (Masses, concerts, performances, etc.) Demonstrate proficiency on at least one musical instrument Qualifications The minimum requirements are: Experience teaching music to elementary-aged students Bachelor's Degree In addition to the above, the preferred requirements are: Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, Education, or a related field California teaching credential (preferred, if applicable) Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
