Possess a Bachelor's Degree with a major in music education Knowledge of Dalcroze, Kodaly, MLT, and/or Orff Understanding of musical concepts Experience applying differentiated instruction to all aspects of a general music curriculum Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, faculty, administrators, peers, parents, and the Ann Arbor community. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in K-12 music

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach a well-rounded, district-approved, general music curriculum to elementary students according to national and state guidelines Ability to play the piano or other accompaniment instruments. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and designated times. Plan a program of study that meets the student's individual needs, interests, and abilities. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the student's maturity and interests. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Diagnoses the educational needs of students. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes. Provide performing opportunities for students in concerts and assembly formats Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Serve on committees to promote music in the school as well as the community.
