Job Description

Good Grooves Music Lessons & Therapy is seeking a part-time Voice Instructor with formal vocal training and experience teaching private lessons. We serve children, teens, and adults and prioritize healthy technique, developmentally appropriate instruction, and long-term student growth. About Good Grooves Music Good Grooves Music offers private lessons, group classes, and summer camps with a strong emphasis on creativity, encouragement, and student-centered learning. We value strong relationships with families and provide structured systems that support our teachers so they can focus on what they do best, teaching. Responsibilities Teach weekly private voice lessons (ages 6 through adult) Adapt instruction for both young beginners and adult learners Travel to students' homes in the Chapel Hill/Durham area and/or teach at our studio Provide developmentally appropriate vocal technique instruction Support students in building performance confidence Prepare students for recitals and optional performances Maintain timely lesson notes and attendance records Communicate professionally and clearly with parents (for minors) Commit to teaching through the school year and summer (when applicable) Required Qualifications Formal vocal training (degree in Vocal Performance, Music Education, Musical Theatre, or equivalent private study required) Demonstrated understanding of healthy vocal technique Experience teaching elementary-aged students Strong foundational music theory knowledge Ability to accompany warm-ups on piano (basic proficiency required) Reliable transportation for local travel Preferred (but not required) Experience preparing students for recitals and auditions Ability to teach beginner piano Interest in teaching or assisting with summer camps Long-term interest in building a teaching studio (not temporary between performance work)
Significant Plus:
Ability to teach additional instruments — especially piano — is highly desirable. Multi-instrument instructors are given priority, as this allows for schedule flexibility and future growth within the studio. Schedule Primarily after-school and early evening hours Some weekend availability preferred Flexible scheduling based on mutual availability Compensation & Benefits $24
