Role Description The Music Teacher is a part-time, on-site role based at Annunciation School in Crestwood, NY, United States. The person in this role will plan and deliver age-appropriate music lessons, introduce students to basic music theory, and lead activities that develop listening, rhythm, and performance skills. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, teaching group classes, organizing and directing student performances or concerts, and assessing student progress. The Music Teacher will collaborate with other faculty to integrate music into school events and support a positive classroom environment that encourages participation, creativity, and respect for diverse musical traditions. Qualifications Strong foundation in Music Theory and general Music knowledge. Demonstrated ability in Music Performance, with experience leading ensembles or solo performances. Background in Music Education, including designing lesson plans and assessing student learning. Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field preferred. Experience teaching children in a school or educational setting is highly beneficial. Clear communication skills, classroom management abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and families. Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Carrying out the NYS music curriculum Incorporating musical instruments and movement in lessons Knowledge of liturgical hymns and ability to teach students liturgical hymns Experience with conducting production/performances: Lower School Christmas pageant and Spring Concert for Upper School Preparing students for school concerts and planned music experiences Cultivating an enjoyable learning environment to inspire young minds and help them grow in appreciation of music
