Job Overview Young Horizons School has opened a brand-new school in White Marsh, MD and is seeking an experienced and dedicated Curriculum Director to lead our early childhood program. We are seeking an energetic and visionary Director to lead our Childcare Center, ensuring a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for children to thrive. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of curriculum implementation, foster a positive team culture, and uphold the highest standards of early childhood education. Your leadership will inspire staff, engage families, and promote the center's mission to support children's developmental needs through innovative programs and exemplary management. Must have a strong instructional and operational leader committed to high-quality standards aligned with Maryland EXCELS Level 5 and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Child Care regulations. Salary is based on Education, Certifications, and Experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (Required) OR Bachelor's in a related field with necessary Lead Teacher certifications (Required) 45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved administrative training (Required) 5 years of experience working with preschoolers (Required) Experience with Teaching Strategies GOLD and Creative Curriculum (Required) CPR Certification (Required)
Responsibilities:
Teacher Training, Coaching & Professional Development :
Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and individualized coaching to teachers on lesson planning, Creative Curriculum implementation, classroom management, and best practices in early childhood education.
Curriculum Planning & Implementation :
Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities aligned with developmental milestones, curriculum objectives, and school standards.
Classroom Support & Modeling :
Provide in-class modeling, co-teaching, and hands-on guidance to support effective curriculum implementation and create classrooms that foster growth, exploration, and learning.
Classroom Observations :
Conduct monthly classroom observations and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and follow-up support to strengthen teaching practices.
Curriculum Consistency & Quality :
Ensure consistent and high-quality implementation of the curriculum across classrooms while encouraging teacher creativity and input.
Program Development :
Develop and oversee an ongoing program of activities that supports the care, growth, development, and learning of children.
Curriculum Resources :
Maintain an inventory of equipment, instructional materials, and supplies necessary for effective curriculum implementation.
Program & Operational Support :
Assist the School Director with daily operations, overall program management, and implementation of school-wide initiatives.
Staff & Family Collaboration :
Foster positive communication and collaboration among teachers, staff, families, and the broader school community.
Compliance & Quality Standards :
Support compliance with licensing requirements, health and safety standards, accreditation expectations, and other applicable quality standards.
