Job Overview Job Description for Primary Caregiver Infant Lead Continuity of Care Component Job Summary The primary caregivers are responsible for providing a safe, healthy, and organized environment that is conducive to learning in a developmentally appropriate manner, while establishing respectful and warm relationships with the children, families, and staff. Essential Responsibilities With the children and families:
- Establish routines and relationships with children to foster positive development
- Plan and prepare creative and age-appropriate activities for the children that align with the goals and objectives of the Creative Curriculum
- Submit lesson plans weekly to the Director for approval
- Maintain classroom discipline using age-appropriate guidance methods
- Maintain a nurturing atmosphere, treating all children and adults with respect
- Maintain confidentiality concerning children, families, and staff
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all parents through documentation, daily conversations, via Brighthwheel, notes, and conferences
- Update parents/guardians via Brightwheel of activities during the day
- Create and maintain an updated portfolio on Brightwheel With the Staff and supervisors:
- Attend and participate in regular staff meetings
- Obtain the required number of training hours set by Paths to Quality and Indiana regulations
- Communicate with fellow teaching staff regularly, offering ideas to others and listening to suggestions
- Report any issues or concerns to the Director or the Director of Operations that inhibit the quality of the childcare center With the operations of the center:
- Manage the classroom following state licensing regulations
- Know fire evacuation, tornado, and earthquake procedures
- Share in household duties to maintain a clean, safe environment. This includes but is not limited to sweeping, mopping, sanitizing materials, garbage removal, vacuuming, and straightening clutter
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- A current Child Development Associate certificate (CDA) two years of early childhood classroom experience are preferred
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred
- Displays a pleasant, approachable personality with children and families. Conveys a sense of warmth and calm with children and families.
- Ability to lift a thirty-pound child and full mobility allowing a person to bend, reach, squat, sit, lift, and actively play with young children, is required
- Submission of criminal background checks, drug testing, references, and all health-related documents as required by the state.
