Lambs of Joy Daycare LLC is seeking a dependable, patient, nurturing, and organized Lead Toddler Teacher for our 2-year-old classroom. The Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for toddlers while overseeing the daily operation of the classroom. This position requires someone who is comfortable with hands-on toddler care, classroom management, lesson planning, diapering, potty-training support, parent communication, and maintaining required documentation.
Responsibilities include:
Provide active supervision and direct care for children at all times Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities for 2-year-olds Support early learning in language, literacy, colors, shapes, numbers, music, sensory play, art, and motor development Maintain a structured daily routine Complete lesson plans, observations, assessments, and daily reports Assist with diapering, toileting, potty training, handwashing, meals, snacks, and nap time Follow proper sanitation, diapering, and Universal Precautions procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom Use positive behavior guidance and age-appropriate redirection Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's day, progress, behavior, meals, toileting, and development Complete incident and accident reports as needed Supervise and provide direction to classroom assistants Maintain required teacher-to-child ratios Keep child records and classroom documentation current Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development Follow Indiana childcare licensing requirements and Lambs of Joy Daycare policies
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Early childhood education coursework, CDA, or related credential preferred Previous experience working with toddlers strongly preferred Knowledge of toddler development and age-appropriate classroom practices Must be patient, dependable, professional, and organized Must be comfortable with diapering and potty-training assistance Strong communication and classroom management skills Must be able to complete written and electronic documentation Must be able to pass required background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, and other employment clearances Must maintain current CPR/First Aid and Universal Precautions training Must meet all required health and physical documentation requirements
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit on the floor, stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, lift and assist young children, and actively participate in indoor and outdoor classroom activities. We are looking for someone who is reliable, enjoys working with toddlers, can take ownership of the classroom, and understands that being a Lead Teacher requires consistency, communication, and accountability.
