We are seeking a dependable, flexible Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our preschool while rotating leadership responsibilities with our Director. This role is ideal for an Assistant Director who can step in wherever needed—classrooms, front office, bus runs, or kitchen—whatever the day calls for. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who goes with the flow, supports the team, and keeps the school running smoothly. Schedule (Rotating Leadership Shifts) Our school operates from 6:00 AM
- 6:30 PM Shifts rotate daily between Director & Assistant Director roles: 6:00 AM
- 4:00 PM 8:00 AM
- 5:30 PM 9:30 AM
- 6:30 PM Must be able to drive our 14-passenger van (bus runs & field trips) Education & Experience Minimum 1 year of experience as an Assistant Director in a licensed childcare center Kitchen or food service experience preferred (must be willing and able to step into the kitchen as needed) Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required for van driving) Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities Support overall day-to-day operations of the school Uphold policies, procedures, and systems to ensure a safe, healthy, compliant environment Support curriculum implementation and classroom quality Provide hands-on classroom coaching and teacher support Step in to support classrooms, kitchen, front office, and bus runs as needed Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, observe, and evaluate staff alongside the School Director Assist with staff scheduling, labor budget, and staff file compliance Support budget management in compliance with franchise guidelines Participate in marketing, open houses, school events, trainings, and meetings Support continuous improvement and positive change Represent the school with professionalism and integrity to families, staff, and the community Ensure compliance with state standards and Children's Lighthouse policies Complete all assigned duties and additional responsibilities in a timely, responsible manner Support daily operations in compliance with Children's Lighthouse quality standards Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Professional presentation and positive attitude Strong leadership and role-modeling skills Ability to communicate clearly, motivate others, and problem-solve Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Sound independent judgment Knowledge of state and local childcare standards Understanding of early childhood development and best practices Ability to foster a safe, loving, learning environment Behavior management and coaching skills Comfortable using required technology systems Flexible, adaptable, and willing to jump in wherever needed Commitment to professional and personal growth The Assistant Director reports directly to the School Director.
