Full-Time | 16-24 Months First Steps Children Learning Center is looking for a passionate, caring, and energetic Pre-Toddler Lead Teacher to join our team! We are seeking someone who truly enjoys working with young children and is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where children can learn, explore, and grow. As a Lead Teacher, you will play an important role in supporting children during this exciting stage of development while building positive relationships with both children and their families. Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans for children ages 16-24 months. Create a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment. Support children's cognitive, language, physical, social-emotional, and self-help development . Maintain consistent daily routines, including meals, diapering, naps, and classroom activities. Use positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management strategies. Monitor children's health, safety, hygiene, and overall well-being. Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation. Communicate professionally and regularly with parents regarding children's progress, milestones, and daily experiences. Follow all Virginia childcare licensing regulations , health and safety procedures, and center policies. Recognize and appropriately document developmental or behavioral concerns when necessary. Follow mandated reporting requirements and all child-safety procedures. Work collaboratively with other teachers and administration to provide high-quality care. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom. Qualifications Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children in a childcare or early childhood education setting. Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Patient, dependable, nurturing, and professional. Ability to work well as part of a team. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework/credential preferred, depending on applicable Virginia requirements. Must be able to meet all applicable Virginia childcare employment and background-check requirements .
