Natural Wonders Early Learning Center is seeking a passionate, dependable, and nurturing Lead Teacher to join our team! We are a nature play-based early learning center serving children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our program focuses on child-led exploration, outdoor learning, and supporting the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of every child. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment while providing high-quality care and education. This position requires someone who enjoys working with children, is committed to professional growth, and can lead a classroom team with confidence and compassion. Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities based on children's interests, needs, and developmental stages. Incorporate nature-based learning, outdoor exploration, sensory experiences, and hands-on activities into the daily curriculum. Provide nurturing, responsive care that supports children's emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Supervise children at all times and follow all Virginia Department of Education licensing requirements and center policies. Lead and collaborate with assistant teachers to ensure effective classroom operations and quality care. Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Complete accurate daily reports documenting children's learning, activities, adventures, and developmental progress. Prepare and maintain lesson plans, classroom materials, and learning environments. Support children's self-regulation, independence, problem-solving, and social-emotional development. Participate in classroom observations, including CLASS observations, staff meetings, and professional development. Communicate effectively with parents and management regarding children's needs, progress, and classroom activities. Follow proper health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures. Assist with maintaining classroom ratios and ensuring children receive consistent, attentive supervision. Perform other duties as assigned by center management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education setting preferred. Experience as a lead teacher or classroom leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Ability to create engaging learning experiences for young children. Dependable, punctual, patient, and compassionate. Ability to work effectively with children of varying ages and developmental abilities. Must meet all applicable Virginia Department of Education background check, education, and training requirements for the position. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain. Must be able to pass required background checks and meet all licensing requirements. Pay:
