Our teachers have extensive training in Conscious Discipline, a social-emotional program that builds resilience in children, families and educators. We believe that the home environment is the primary source of growth, formation, and education of its members. SCDC is an extension of, as well as a resource for this primary unit, the family. General Position Description We are hiring for an individual that is interested helping in a childcare center in different areas; classroom, kitchen, and office. The schedule is roughly 9:15 am -5:45pm Monday through Friday. Those are not set in stone. There is room for some flexibility. This position reports to Director Key Responsibilities Know and implement all Minimum Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers
- Planning, supervising and implementing the program for the group in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Center.
- Working together with other teachers as a team - being in constant communication with one another and valuing each other's differences. Assisting in the kitchen as necessary. Learning how the kitchen operates. Helping in the office with light administrative work such as filing and data entry.
- Gearing the program to the needs of the individual child with concerns for his/her interests, disabilities, special talents, and the individual style and pace of learning.
- Considering the individual child in relationship to his cultural and socioeconomic background.
- Helping each child to become aware of his/her role as an integral member of a group.
- Being responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the classroom, bathroom and playground.
- Always using proper hand washing and diaper changing procedures.
- Knowing and following the Center's health policy.
- Filling out incident reports for a child who has been hurt, any child who has hit their head, any child that is ill, when a child displays unusual or severe behavior, and when there is suspected child abuse.
- Being familiar with the Center's emergency/ disaster plan. Emergency exits are posted in every room
- Attending staff meetings and training programs and conferences.
