Job Summary Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School, a St. Louis Archdiocesan coeducational college preparatory high school serving grades 9-12, seeks a dynamic and student-centered Psychology / Sociology Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking an educator who can engage students in the study of human behavior, social systems, and cultural dynamics through rigorous, relevant, and thought‑provoking instruction. The ideal candidate will help scholars develop critical thinking skills, self‑awareness, and a deeper understanding of society, identity, and human interaction. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach in an urban, college preparatory environment, possess a strong academic background, and hold a Missouri State Teaching License (Master's Degree preferred). Dual credit or Advanced Placement credentials are preferred but not required. Position Responsibilities The employed person is expected to: Articulate and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis and Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School Plan and deliver engaging instruction in psychology and sociology utilizing the Gradual Release Model Develop assessments that promote higher‑order thinking, analysis, and application of social science concepts Facilitate discussions on topics such as human development, mental health, social structures, culture, identity, and societal issues Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices that reflect and affirm students' lived experiences Incorporate project‑based learning, research opportunities, and real‑world applications Use instructional technology, Google applications, and student data systems effectively Maintain a classroom environment conducive to respectful dialogue, inquiry, and academic excellence In addition, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the vocation of teaching and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, or a related field (Master's preferred) Missouri State Teaching Certification (required) Strong content knowledge in psychology and sociology Experience teaching in an urban and/or college preparatory environment (preferred) Ability to facilitate meaningful discussions on complex and sensitive topics Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to design curriculum aligned to college readiness standards Experience integrating culturally responsive and student‑centered instructional practices Proficiency in instructional technology and student data systems Compensation Salary is based on degrees and years of experience (somewhat negotiable) and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
