Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated 6th Grade Math and Science teacher to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will foster a classroom environment based on inquiry-based learning principles, where students actively explore, question, and investigate key concepts in mathematics and science. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating engaging, hands-on lessons that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. This teacher will also encourage a growth mindset and foster curiosity, collaboration, and self-directed learning in students.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement inquiry-based lesson plans for 6th-grade Math and Science aligned with state standards and school curriculum. Promote a classroom culture of questioning, exploration, and discovery, allowing students to engage with content in meaningful ways. Design and facilitate investigations, experiments, and projects that help students develop problem-solving skills, scientific reasoning, and mathematical concepts. Utilize differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Encourage student collaboration and discussions, fostering a supportive learning community. Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide timely, constructive feedback. Integrate technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience and support inquiry-based practices. Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn. Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success and development. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in inquiry-based teaching, as well as developments in Math and Science education.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field. Teaching certification in [state/country-specific requirements]. Experience in teaching 6th-grade Math and Science, with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and STEM pedagogy. Ability to design hands-on, engaging lessons that foster curiosity and critical thinking. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Collaborative spirit and willingness to work as part of a team. Passion for working with middle school students and promoting a growth mindset in learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education, Science, or Math. Experience integrating technology tools and digital resources into the classroom. Knowledge of project-based learning and cross-curricular connections. Previous experience with student-centered instructional practices.
