Job Description
The Skate Instructor position is responsible for instructing and coaching ice skating at the Plymouth Ice Center. Ensure skating instruction is provided in accordance with the ISI progression program. Support a successful skating program that engages participants and contributes to program growth. Provide instruction to skaters of various ages and skill levels. Ensure lessons are organized, engaging and focused on proper skating techniques. Monitor the well-being and progress of all participants throughout lessons. Maintain a safe, supportive and positive environment for all skaters. Participate in strategic planning and program meetings. Maintain open and effective communication with the Skating Director, coaches, participants, parents and arena staff. Must be at least 16 years of age. Must have successfully passed the skating level assigned to instruct. Must be able to demonstrate all skills required for the level assigned to teach. Must be available to work weekend hours. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must demonstrate positive and effective communication skills with participants. Must understand, or be able to learn, effective teaching techniques and proper skill progression. Prior skating or teaching experience is preferred.
