Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and energetic Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will develop and implement tailored instructional plans that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Duties Design and deliver individualized lesson plans aligned with IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals, incorporating instructional modifications and accommodations. Collaborate closely with general education teachers, speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support student success. Manage classroom behavior effectively using proven behavior management strategies tailored for students with developmental disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders. Utilize educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and support literacy, math, and communication skills development. Conduct assessments, including standardized testing and progress monitoring, to evaluate student growth and inform instruction. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP updates, and behavioral reports in compliance with special education law. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student achievements, challenges, and strategies for continued support. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; valid ARIZONA teaching certification for special education required. Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional modifications, behavior management techniques, and early intervention strategies. Proficiency in literacy education, math instruction, and educational technology integration. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and support staff. Familiarity with IEP processes, special education law, and standardized testing procedures, and IEPPro.
