Qualifications and Preferred Background:

Valid teaching certification in visual impairment or related field Experience instructing students who are blind or visually impaired in a school setting Proficiency in adapting curriculum, exemplifying patience and flexibility Strong collaboration skills to work in multidisciplinary teams Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's unique learning needs Adapt educational materials and classroom strategies to promote accessibility Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation Guide the use of adaptive technology and materials, including Braille and low-vision devices Advocate for students' inclusion and accessibility across school environments Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on goals and accommodations
