Duties Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and goals Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, instructional modifications, and educational technology integration to support diverse learners Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies for students with special needs and developmental disabilities Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support for students Use evidence-based teaching methods such as behavioral therapy and early intervention techniques to promote positive learning outcomes Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for success Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and ongoing observations to inform instruction and report on achievements Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education with a specialization in special needs, or related field; Master's degree preferred Valid teaching certification/license for special education or equivalent credentials in your region Proven classroom management skills with experience working with students with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders Strong knowledge of special education law (IDEA), IEP development, instructional modifications, and behavior management techniques Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities across early childhood education to elementary levels Familiarity with literacy education, math instruction, communication skills development, and tutoring strategies for students with special needs Ability to integrate instructional technology tools effectively into daily lessons and assessments Excellent collaboration skills for working closely with colleagues, parents, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive educational experience Passion for mentoring students and supporting their social-emotional growth in a nurturing environment
