9589720-80112 Job Description Make a meaningful difference supporting students with visual impairments across a dynamic school district in the Denver area. This full-time, onsite opportunity involves working with learners of all agesfrom early childhood through high schoolto deliver specialized instruction and create inclusive, impactful learning experiences.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Colorado DOE certification with endorsement for Special Education Specialist Visual Impairment (ages 0-21) Masters degree or higher in special education visual impairment or an approved equivalent Experience working with students who are visually impaired, blind, or deaf-blind (preferred) Strong assessment skills, including functional vision assessments and development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Certification is highly preferred, though not required Ability to adapt instructional materials and environments Commitment to completing a background check and fingerprinting as part of district onboarding
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct vision-related assessments and facilitate educational planning for students from birth to 21 Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student's visual and developmental needs Provide specialized instruction and support, including orientation and mobility training as needed Adapt learning environments and materials to support accessibility and success for each student Collaborate with families, teachers, and district staff to maximize student engagement and achievement Maintain accurate records and comply with all district and state requirements Display a strong commitment to fulfilling the entire school year Seize the opportunity to foster independence and academic growth for students with visual impairments.
