Until filled Greenwich Public Schools seeks an outstanding educator to serve as grade 2 Advanced Learning Program (ALP) Teacher through June 30, 2026. The teacher(s) will teach grade 2 students identified as gifted in mathematics at Riverside Elementary School from 12:00-12:30 p.m., or 12:30-1:00 p.m., four days per week. The ideal candidate(s) will understand the growth and development of children, and thus be able to plan and deliver lessons accordingly, helping students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences. Responsibilities Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, using appropriate techniques and serving the needs of all learners in the classroom Demonstrate strong content knowledge Maintain accurate and complete records Assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed Communicate student progress with parents through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences Design instruction to meet the needs of all learners Design and implement assessments that measure progress and use assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner Establish and maintain professional relationships Participate in professional learning Knowledge/Skills Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Effective, active listening skills Ability to work effectively with others Organizational and problem-solving skills Qualifications CT certification as an elementary teacher is required; candidates with any elementary-grade certification will be considered. Knowledge of best practices for teaching gifted-identified students is preferred. Experience with assessment and identification of gifted or potentially-gifted students is preferred.
