Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A valued school community near West Hartford, CT, seeks a Special Education Teacher prepared to make a meaningful difference for students in grades 5-8. This supportive and collaborative environment welcomes both part-time and full-time educators who are passionate about guiding middle school learners toward their highest potential. Immediate opportunities are available, allowing flexibility in scheduling to suit your needs—part-time hours span Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a focused caseload of no more than 10 students.
Qualifications:
Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher endorsement or eligibility to obtain DSAP. Prior experience working with middle school students preferred. Strong understanding of IEP development, accommodations, and differentiated instruction. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs in a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instruction and individualized support to students with special needs in a middle school environment. Develop and implement effective lesson plans tailored to student goals. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure holistic support. Monitor and document student progress, adapting strategies as needed. Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the creation of supportive educational plans. Foster an inclusive and positive classroom community.
