Summary Gooding Middle School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a full-time Special Education Paraeducator. This role is essential in supporting students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and positive educational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with special education teachers, classroom staff, and students to ensure that each student receives the individualized support required to thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Provide direct support to students in both academic and non-academic settings, including one-on-one and small group instruction. Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting findings to the special education team. Facilitate and encourage social interactions among students, promoting a positive classroom environment. Support students with personal care needs as required, including assistance with mobility, feeding, and hygiene. Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to adapt and modify instructional materials to meet the needs of students. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education. Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources to support student learning. Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment by implementing behavior management strategies as needed. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred. Previous experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices in supporting students with disabilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families. Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from special education teachers. Proficient in using technology and educational software to support student learning. Must pass background checks and any required training or certification related to special education. Physical ability to assist students as needed, including lifting or moving students with mobility challenges.
