Special Education Personal Care Assistant - ERC
Job Description

- Assist students with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Support students in the classroom by providing individualized attention and encouragement.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans under the guidance of special education teachers.
- Monitor and document student progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to adapt instructional materials and activities to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Assist with the management of classroom behavior and implement strategies to promote positive interactions among students.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration or special education staff. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; requires an AA degree or successfully completed the Idaho Paraprofessional exam.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with disabilities.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of special education practices and IEP development is a plus.
- Physical ability to assist students with mobility and personal care needs.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
- Background check clearance is required prior to employment.
