Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity is available for a dedicated Physical Education Teacher to make a positive impact in a supportive therapeutic day school environment. This contract role offers flexibility, with options for either full-time or a 3-4 day workweek, catering to your availability and allowing for a balanced professional life. In this position, you will work closely with a caseload of nine K-12 students, focusing on teaching core sports skills while integrating fun and personalized learning. The supportive setting includes small group instruction and the ongoing assistance of a dedicated para, as well as full access to all necessary equipment. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere, helping students succeed at their level.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
State certification as a Physical Education Teacher, or LBS1/regular education license (adaptive education certification not required) Experience in therapeutic day school or similar settings is advantageous Ability to develop engaging PE activities that meet diverse student needs Strong classroom management and adaptability skills Passion for supporting students and promoting enjoyment of physical activity
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver effective, enjoyable PE instruction tailored to student abilities Integrate social-emotional and therapeutic strategies in the classroom Collaborate with classroom paras and school staff for optimal student support Ensure a safe, inclusive learning space with appropriately adapted physical activities Maintain up-to-date records and communicate progress to administration This position begins in October or November and lasts until the end of the school year, providing the chance to establish strong connections and truly make a difference.
