Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by guiding high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing, while sharing your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and core academic subjects. This full-time contract opportunity offers a chance to work in a supportive educational setting, partnering with colleagues and families near Elgin and Algonquin, IL. In this role, youll provide both specialized instruction and academic support for students who communicate using ASL or who benefit from tailored approaches to their learning. Your passion for fostering communication and academic success will empower students to achieve their goals.
Key Qualifications:
Certification and demonstrated experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or as an ASL Teacher Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Skilled in planning and delivering instruction for students with hearing differences Experience teaching or supporting high school students in ASL and/or core content areas Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans for ASL and other required subjects, customized to student needs Offer direct instruction, intervention, and academic support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are in place Monitor progress and adjust teaching methods based on student assessment data Advocate for students and help cultivate an inclusive, accessible classroom environment This role provides full-time hours in an engaging educational atmosphere, with a competitive pay rate of $48+ per hour.
