Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs? An exciting opportunity awaits for a contract Special Education Teacher to make a meaningful impact on junior high and high school students. This full-time role runs from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, working with resource and self-contained blocks to help students with mild disabilities reach their full potential.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
State certification in Special Education (or eligibility) Previous teaching experience working with junior high and/or high school students Familiarity with developing, implementing, and tracking Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially relating to working with general education staff Skill in modifying curriculum and creating accommodations tailored to individual student needs Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and supportive classroom environment
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Providing instruction and support to students with mild disabilities in a resource classroom setting Teaching self-contained blocks, ensuring content is accessible, engaging, and differentiated Collaborating closely with general education teachers to modify and adapt lessons, assignments, and assessments Writing, reviewing, and updating IEPs to reflect student progress and ensure legal compliance Maintaining accurate records and clear communication with families, staff, and support teams Encouraging the academic, emotional, and social growth of each student by employing a variety of strategies and interventions This is a chance to make a difference daily, working in a supportive school setting with students who truly benefit from your expertise and dedication.
