Job Description

Bring your expertise to an impactful role as a certified Special Education Teacher serving students near Harvey, LA. This contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate across multiple schools, supporting growth and achievement for students with diverse learning needs throughout the school year. As an itinerant Special Education Teacher, you'll move between schools, serving as an essential resource for non-certified educators working within special education settings. Your support will drive improved instruction, compliance, and student outcomes district-wide.
Key Qualifications:
Active Louisiana DOE Certification with SPED endorsement (non-negotiable) Thorough knowledge of special education best practices, including IEP writing, data documentation, and progress reporting Strong communication and coaching skills to support non-certified colleagues Ability to adapt quickly and efficiently across school campuses Must pass comprehensive background screening, including drug test and district fingerprinting requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide ongoing coaching and support to non-certified special education teachers across various schools Assist with development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized education plans (IEPs) Guide data collection, reporting, and progress monitoring to ensure compliance and student growth Offer instructional strategies tailored to the needs of students with disabilities Serve as a collaborative resource for teachers, administrators, and support staff Manage a full-time schedule (35 hours/week) according to the school calendar from start date through late May As part of this meaningful contract opportunity, you'll expand your professional expertise, enjoy ongoing support, and build lasting connections in a vibrant, diverse educational community.
