Job Description

Bring your expertise and passion for special education to make a meaningful difference for students in the New Orleans area! We are seeking dedicated, certified Special Education Teachers for an impactful contract role. As a key member of the educational team, youll work across multiple schools, providing essential support to non-certified teachers and ensuring students with diverse needs receive the care and instruction they deserve.
Qualifications and Experience:
Current, active Louisiana DOE Certificate with Special Education endorsement is required Extensive knowledge of IEP writing, data collection, and progress reporting Demonstrated ability to mentor and support instructional strategies in a special education setting Previous experience working within a school environment with varied age groups preferred Commitment to completing all district credentialing requirements, including a drug test, fingerprints, and comprehensive background check
Responsibilities:
Travel between assigned schools as an itinerant educator, collaborating with multiple teams Guide and assist non-certified teachers in special education classrooms, fostering effective and inclusive instruction Support with IEP development, progress monitoring, and timely documentation Provide expertise in adapting curriculum and teaching methods for students with disabilities Engage in regular communication with staff to facilitate student progress Maintain compliance with all district protocols and state regulations This is a full-time contract opportunity (35 hours/week, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar) to expand your professional skill set while making a tangible impact throughout the academic year.
