9680962-70001 Job Description Step into a dynamic educational environment and help shape the future for students with special needs as a certified special education professional. This contract position offers the chance to engage with multiple schools across the area, making a significant impact by supporting both students and non-certified educators. The assignment starts as soon as possible and extends through the end of the school year, providing stability and the opportunity to work a full-time schedule of 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, aligned with the academic calendar.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and active Louisiana Department of Education Certification with a Special Education endorsement is absolutely required. Previous experience in special education settings is highly valued. Capacity to travel and work itinerantly across assigned schools during the school year. Strong proficiency in IEP writing, progress reports, data collection, and instructional strategies. Ability to collaborate with non-certified teachers, offering guidance and support within special education classrooms. Successful completion of district background check, drug test, and fingerprinting is mandatory prior to starting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Move between schools as an itinerant certified special education teacher. Mentor and assist non-certified teachers in managing special education classrooms. Lead development and documentation of IEPs, collect data, and produce progress reports. Deliver recommendations and assistance with instructional strategies for individualized student success. Communicate clearly with teaching teams and administrators to ensure cohesive support for students with special needs.
