Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Support meaningful learning experiences and make a lasting impact working as a paraprofessional in classrooms serving students with diverse needs. This full-time contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through late May, following the school calendar, with consistent hours Monday through Friday. Work closely with students in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio settings, contributing to an inclusive educational environment in the New Orleans area.
Key Qualifications:
Must meet at least one requirement: Associate's degree, ParaPro assessment score of 450 or higher, or 48 semester credit hours Demonstrated classroom experience required Familiarity with IEPs and supporting students with Autism or related disabilities Experience working with challenging behaviors, including aggression toward adults and peers Preferred but not mandatory: CPI training, de-escalation skills, behavior management background, CPR certification Must successfully complete a drug test and fingerprint background check (per district requirements)
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist teaching staff with classroom management and direct support for students with complex communication and behavioral profiles Foster a supportive, safe environment while implementing instructional and behavioral plans from IEPs Engage with students individually and in small groups, modeling positive behavior and encouraging participation Collaborate with special education professionals and contribute to team discussions regarding student progress Adapt and respond to the evolving needs of students with care and professionalism Take the next step in your career by applying your skills where they matter most.
