Job Description

Step into a contract role where your expertise as a Certified Special Education Teacher makes a tangible difference in the lives of students across multiple campuses in the New Orleans area. This full-time opportunity extends through the school year, providing a varied and engaging work experience while supporting both students and fellow educators. In this itinerant position, you'll work with a dynamic group of colleagues, moving between schools to assist non-certified special education teachers. Your knowledge will help shape effective classroom environments and elevate instructional quality and student progress. What you'll need to succeed: Active Louisiana Department of Education certification with Special Education endorsement (required) Demonstrated experience with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Strong background in delivering instructional strategies for diverse learning needs Comfortable working across multiple school settings and adapting to different environments Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset Successful completion of district-required drug testing, fingerprints, and background checks Your key responsibilities: Support non-certified teachers in the special education setting Provide guidance on IEP writing, data collection, and progress reporting Offer expertise in instructional methods tailored for students with diverse learning challenges Collaborate regularly with school teams and participate in multidisciplinary meetings Travel between assigned schools to fulfill caseload and program requirements This contract position runs full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, according to the school calendar.
