8755983-70119 Job Description Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a supportive school setting near New Orleans, LA. This contract role is ideal for dedicated professionals passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments and empowering students to reach their full potential.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required) Profound understanding of the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Experience with a variety of communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or oral/auditory approaches Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff Ability to create and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Previous experience in a school setting is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with hearing loss, adapting teaching techniques to fit unique learning styles Support the academic and social-emotional growth of students by implementing specialized curricula Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessible classroom instruction Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, modifying teaching strategies as needed Advocate for students needs, facilitate communication, and provide resources to families Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school policies Imagine shaping the school experience and supporting growth for students with hearing challenges.
