Qualifications and Experience:

State teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility for certification Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision Strong understanding of accessible instructional materials and adaptive technology Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills Flexibility and creativity in addressing diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

Assess student abilities and develop tailored educational plans to support success Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families Adapt curriculum and learning materials into accessible formats such as Braille, large print, or audio Provide direct instruction in areas such as orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and daily living skills Foster independence and self-advocacy among students with visual impairments Participate actively in IEP meetings and maintain progress documentation
