A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
:- Support the management and implementation of St. Elizabeth School's behavior support services.
- Document program results, maintain accurate records and other required data, and submit reports in a timely manner.
- Provide student crisis counseling as well as in-class and transitional behavior support to students with interfering behaviors.
- Work directly with students to help them achieve behavior goals in accordance with their Behavior Intervention Programs.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop, implement and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Professional Development trainings
- Prepare IEP/BIP documentation and participate in IEP Team Meetings.
- Facilitate communication among school staff and families.
- Participate in continuing education and professional growth activities to keep current with issues, laws and regulations regarding positive behavior interventions, special education, and other issues related to children with special needs.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in related field (e.g. psychology, special education, social work, behavioral analysis, or related mental health field) BCBA certification preferred, but not required Starting Salary Range $45,000 - 65,000 Demonstrates a passion for working with elementary-aged students, with the ability and willingness to provide effective behavioral support to students across all grade levels.- Advanced ability to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments, complete data analysis, and develop, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention plans using data to drive decisions.
- Must be proficient Microsoft Office and Google Suite application skills.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting and in diverse environments.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills. Can effectively and appropriately engage diverse audiences including colleagues, students, families, local school system representatives and community members, etc.
- Must be able to accept constructive criticism.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Applicant must have a valid driver's license.
