Multiple opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education professionals in self-contained and resource classroom settings for the 2026-2027 academic year. These on-site, contract positions offer the chance to collaborate with a talented and supportive team, working hands-on with students who have cognitive impairments or learning disabilities.

What Were Looking For:

Michigan Teacher Certificate with a Learning Disabilities Endorsement (LD) is typical, but candidates with Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or MDE ZA (Early Childhood) endorsements with another Special Education area are highly valued. Ability to work effectively in urban educational settings and bring creativity and culturally responsive strategies to your classroom. Strong understanding of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations. Experience or genuine interest in meeting the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, especially those facing unique urban challenges. Willingness to provide or obtain official university transcripts for credential verification.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead engaging lessons in self-contained or resource classroom settings, working with a maximum of 22 students per class. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs. Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and support staff, benefitting from mentorship and professional development opportunities. Adapt instruction and provide appropriate accommodations to foster student growth. Participate in ongoing team meetings, academic training, and engage with the special education community for continual growth.
