Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as a DCD Special Education Teacher within an elementary environment, supporting a dedicated program for students in grades K-1. This contract position is designed to create a positive, structured learning experience for a small group of six students in a Setting III program. Collaborate closely with support staff and related service providers to foster academic, behavioral, and personal development.
Key qualifications and desired experience:
Current Special Education teaching license, with preference for DCD certification Prior experience in elementary special education settings highly valued Demonstrated knowledge of adaptive curriculum, communication devices, and individualized instruction Strong commitment to assisting with all aspects of personal care, including toileting and feeding support Experience working with non-verbal students or those using augmentative communication is a plus Excellent collaboration and communication skills for partnering with families and other professionals Ability to develop and implement IEP goals with creativity, compassion, and consistency Primary responsibilities include: Delivering individualized instruction based on student needs and IEPs Supporting students with personal care, communication, and daily living skills Working hands-on with staff and therapists to carry out behavior and learning plans Creating an inclusive, supportive, and adaptable classroom environment Engaging regularly with families on student progress and needs Maintaining thorough records and consistently documenting student growth and challenges Participating in school-based teams, meetings, and professional development The position runs from as soon as possible through June 7, 2027, with hours of 8:00-4:00.
