9674639-27020 Job Description Step into a vital role supporting student success as a Special Education Teacher in a contract position serving both middle and high school students. This opportunity calls for an experienced educator passionate about inclusion and resource support, providing direct services in a dynamic, in-person classroom environment. The assignment is located in a welcoming community with a 35-hour workweek, beginning as soon as possible and extending through June 4th, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
Current North Carolina Teaching License with certification appropriate for middle and/or high school levels. Demonstrated experience in special education settings, especially inclusion or resource models. Understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs. Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teams, families, and service providers. Excellent communication, organization, and adaptability for managing a split school assignment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with varying needs in an inclusion/resource setting across both a middle and a high school. Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure compliance and student growth. Collaborate closely with general education teachers, administrators, and related service staff. Use a variety of teaching methods and data-driven strategies to foster academic and behavioral achievement. Document progress and maintain accurate records according to federal, state, and district requirements. Serve as an advocate for students and provide ongoing communication with families.
