9603178-27025 Job Description Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist serving students for the 26/27 school year. This full-time, onsite position offers a chance to make a lasting impact, working collaboratively in a supportive school environment near Madison, NC. As a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, youll play a vital role in helping students reach their full potential through adaptive teaching methods and advocacy.
Key Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication modes Knowledge of IEP processes and compliance requirements Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and families Ability to develop individualized and group instructional plans
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct instructional support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individualized learning needs Support IEP development, implementation, and monitoring for each student on your caseload Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and other specialists to ensure accessibility and inclusion Consult with staff and parents to promote understanding and awareness of students needs and suitable accommodations Assess student progress and adjust strategies as necessary throughout the school year This is a 37.5-hour per week contract position for the entire academic year, with the possibility for extension based on program needs.
