Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Empower students with hearing differences and make a meaningful impact—this flexible contract opportunity is tailored for dedicated professionals passionate about Deaf and Hard of Hearing education. Serve K-12 students in an itinerant setting, working 20 hours per week in a welcoming, supportive environment near Walnut Cove, NC. With a brand-new opening for the 2026/2027 school year, you'll play a crucial role in students' academic and personal growth. Immediate interviews are available for this position. If you are licensed and seeking full-time work, your expertise can also be utilized in special education roles for additional hours.

Key Qualifications:

Valid state licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in itinerant or school-based settings Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and assistive technology Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and families Excellent communication, organization, and advocacy skills

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver direct instruction and support services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across multiple grade levels Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's needs Facilitate inclusion and provide resources to general education staff Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed Engage families and community partners to ensure comprehensive support for student success
