Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Support young learners as a dedicated educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) services. This rewarding contract opportunity offers the chance to work with early childhood students, from birth to age five, fostering strong communication skills and inclusive learning experiences. You'll collaborate onsite with an innovative school team, making a meaningful difference in each child's educational journey. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available for professionals seeking flexibility.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification Proven experience or strong interest in working with children ages birth to five Expertise in sign language, auditory/oral approaches, and/or total communication methods Ability to design and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with caregivers and colleagues Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for DHH students
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss in early childhood settings Assess students' needs and track progress toward IEP goals Develop lesson plans tailored to individual learning styles and communication modalities Consult with teachers, specialists, and family members to ensure well-rounded support Advocate for appropriate accommodations and ensure access to the general education curriculum Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state requirements Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and professional development opportunities
