This contract opportunity invites an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to empower learners in Binghamton, NY, during the 20262027 school year.
Key Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) Prior experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting preferred Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for DHH students Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech-language pathologists and general education staff Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills Commitment to fostering inclusion and promoting accessible learning
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to students with varying degrees of hearing loss, both individually and in group settings Assess student needs and participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals Provide consultative support and resources to classroom teachers, families, and other service providers Adapt and create instructional materials and activities to ensure accessibility for Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners Foster a supportive classroom environment that enhances language acquisition, academic achievement, and self-advocacy Maintain accurate progress documentation and contribute to annual IEP review meetings
