Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across K-12 classrooms this school year. This contract opportunity is ideal for a passionate educator certified in New York State, eager to foster accessible and engaging learning environments. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year, with part-time availability (2-3 days per week) and flexibility for hybrid or virtual work arrangements.

Key Qualifications:

Valid New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Demonstrated experience or strong interest in supporting K-12 students with hearing differences Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners and communicate clearly with students, staff, and families Competency integrating assistive technology, creating accessible materials, and supporting IEP development Adaptability for both in-person and remote teaching environments

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver direct instruction tailored for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across elementary through high school grade levels Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and related service providers to promote inclusive and supportive academic experiences Develop and implement IEP goals, monitor student progress, and document outcomes Facilitate communication strategies and tools to empower students' participation in school activities Serve as a resource for school staff and families, offering guidance on best practices for accessibility and student advocacy You'll enjoy making a difference in the lives of students while benefiting from a flexible schedule, allowing you to bring your expertise where it is needed most—on-site or virtually.
