Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic teaching opportunity supporting students with complex needs in a self-contained classroom environment! This contract position is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of middle and high school students who present with severe behavioral and mental health challenges. The classroom blends experienced education with social-emotional programming, offering a supportive and collaborative team structure. You'll be part of a carefully coordinated setting, collaborating closely with another educational professional focused on social-emotional growth. In addition, paraprofessionals float in and out, providing flexible, individualized support as dictated by student IEPs, including 1:1 attention where needed.
Key Qualifications:
Current Special Education Teacher certification Previous experience with students who have intensive behavioral and mental health needs Comfort working in a blended middle and high school class Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation Skillful in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques Ability to collaborate effectively with Paraeducators and allied staff Commitment to full-time on-site schedule (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm)
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver individualized instruction in a self-contained setting Collaborate daily with a team member focused on social-emotional learning and skill-building Adjust teaching strategies to support both academic and behavioral growth Engage with paraprofessionals to maximize support based on student IEP requirements Monitor, document, and communicate student progress and needs Create an inclusive, compassionate environment that encourages each student's strengths Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings Take the lead in transforming lives through meaningful education and support.
