Job Description The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized, and dedicated educator with a strong elementary education background who is passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will create a structured, engaging, and supportive self-contained classroom environment while helping students successfully transition from elementary to middle school. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Valid Oklahoma teaching certification appropriate for the position Strong elementary education background preferred Previous experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students preferred Experience working in a self-contained classroom preferred Strong classroom management and student engagement skills Knowledge of Oklahoma Academic Standards and effective instructional practices Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff Ability to use student data to monitor progress and guide instruction Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction Provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction in a self-contained 6th grade classroom Teach multiple core academic subject areas Develop daily and long-range lesson plans aligned with curriculum and student needs Differentiate instruction to support students with varying academic abilities Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress Provide intervention, enrichment, and additional support as needed Help students develop strong study habits, organizational skills, and independence Classroom Management & Student Support Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and respectful classroom environment Implement consistent classroom expectations and behavior-management strategies Support students through the academic and social transition into 6th grade Build strong, positive relationships with students Encourage responsibility, accountability, confidence, and academic growth Address student needs with patience, consistency, and professionalism Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning Family & Staff Communication Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and academic progress Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, special education staff, and intervention personnel Participate in parent conferences and student support meetings as needed Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues Professional Expectations Maintain professionalism, reliability, confidentiality, and a positive attitude Follow ASTEC Charter Schools policies, procedures, and expectations Attend required staff meetings, professional development, trainings, and school events Maintain accurate and timely documentation Participate in school-wide activities and initiatives Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth Support the mission and vision of ASTEC Charter Schools Serve as a positive role model for students and contribute to a strong school culture Why Join ASTEC Charter Schools?
