A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
The Special Education Teacher will:
Lead the classroom team, including classroom assistants, to ensure consistent implementation of lesson plans, student supports, and a safe, positive learning environment. Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction and strategies to meet individual needs. Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that promote academic, social, and developmental growth. Collaborate with related service providers (OT, PT, SLP, etc.) to integrate therapeutic and educational supports throughout the school day. Communicate regularly with families about student progress, IEP goals, and strategies for continued growth at home. Support students' personal care and developmental needs in a nurturing, inclusive classroom setting. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education required, Master's Degree in Special Education desired. Pennsylvania Special Education teaching certification required. Experience with preschool or early childhood special education strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of IEP development, compliance, and progress monitoring. Strong leadership skills to guide and support classroom assistants and foster a collaborative team environment. Excellent communication and family engagement skills.
