Special Education Teacher | Cranston, Rhode Island

Job Description

Make a real difference in students lives by supporting elementary learners as a Special Education Teacher in a contract position for the 20262027 school year. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with young studentseither in a resource/inclusion setting, helping those with mild-to-moderate disabilities access the general curriculum, or leading a self-contained classroom. You'll collaborate with dedicated educators and families to empower each child to meet their personal and academic goals. Qualifications & Requirements Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education teaching license for the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary) Commitment to compliance with the Right to Read Act (certification in, or willingness to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire) Experience working in an elementary school setting is highly valued Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Key Responsibilities Teach elementary students with diverse learning needs in a resource/inclusion or self-contained classroom (assignment based on district needs) Design and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and the general curriculum Collaborate with parents, specialists, and school teams to monitor student progress Maintain accurate records and adapt instruction based on student data Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Encourage student independence and social-emotional growth What Awaits You Contract position with predictable weekday hours (35 hours/week) Immediate start through June 18, 2027 Elementary school caseload in a vibrant school community If youre passionate about special education and ready to support elementary students on their learning journey, dont miss this rewarding contract opportunity.
