Job Description

Step into a fulfilling contract assignment supporting students with high functional life skills in a collaborative and resource-rich environment. A dedicated Special Education Teacher is needed to provide coverage during a maternity leave this upcoming school year. This full-time, onsite role runs from October 16, 2026, through January 15, 2027, offering a unique chance to engage directly with a supportive team and make an immediate impact.
Key Qualifications:
Active Special Education Educator Certificate required Experience teaching K-5 students, ideally within a special education or high functional life skills setting Strong classroom management and organization skills Ability to collaborate effectively with teacher assistants and related services staff Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Daily Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging instruction to a group of approximately 8 students alongside 3 teaching assistants Develop and tailor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet diverse student needs Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that enhances student learning and growth Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on student progress Work closely with families and school specialists to ensure best outcomes for all learners Implement life skills curriculum and support student independence This position follows a consistent schedule, running from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm each weekday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
