Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary students as a contract special education teacher in Central Falls, RI for the 26/27 school year. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about working with students with developmental disabilities in grades 3 and 4. Youll join a supportive classroom environment, maintaining a 1:3 teacher-to-assistant ratio, and focus on fostering student growth through personalized instruction and individualized learning plans.
Qualifications:
Hold a valid Rhode Island teaching license in mild-moderate or severe special education Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged students with developmental disabilities Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to collaborate with teacher assistants and related service staff Commitment to ongoing professional development; considerable training provided throughout the school year
Responsibilities:
Lead a class of 9 students, adapting curriculum and instruction to meet individual learning needs Partner with teacher assistants in a 1:3 setting, ensuring robust academic support Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Maintain open, positive communication with families and colleagues Participate in all required training and professional learning activities provided by the district This assignment offers the stability of working at a single school for the full academic year, with 37.5 hours a week dedicated to one supportive community.
