Key qualifications:

Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education teaching license for Secondary level Ability to obtain or complete Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency (Right to Read Act) within one year of hire Experience with high school students, particularly those with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral needs, preferred Strong classroom management skills and a compassionate, student-centered approach Capacity for teamwork, communication, and rapport-building with students, families, and staff Commitment to supporting students in a Self-Contained or Sub-Separate classroom environment Responsibilities include: Leading instruction for high schoolers in a specialized classroom setting Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's strengths and needs Collaborating with support staff and related service providers Creating a structured, engaging, and positive learning environment to facilitate academic and emotional growth Collecting data on student progress and adjusting strategies accordingly Fostering strong communication with parents and guardians Attracting educators who are passionate about supporting students facing behavioral challenges, this contract offers the chance to work in a focused, impactful high school setting.
